mailbox   The youth of today frighten me. And by “youth”, I mean anyone from the age of 1 to about 30. We have been enjoying some nice spring weather. So, I was sitting out in the front yard and I overheard a conversation between two neighborhood children. A little boy had a plastic shotgun; he shoved it into the back of a little girl and said “Take the goods and put them in the back of my rig!” Where are they hearing this stuff? Their parents? TV?

It doesn’t seem to get better with age. I was in the parking lot headed into the store and was stopped by a young man in his 20’s. He said “Ma’am, can you help me?” I said “Maybe, what do you need?” He was just standing there staring at the mailbox for outgoing letters. He said “I don’t know what to do, I have never mailed a letter before.” Are you kidding me? How is that even possible? I told him to pull the handle and throw it in but he still couldn’t figure it out. I had to deposit the letter for him and then he asked, “What do I do now?” I said “That’s it. What for a response I guess?” I just couldn’t believe it. I love writing letters and receiving them. Yet another confirmation that I am OLD!
