E-mail 101

emailme                With the amount of emails I send and receive daily, I feel like I am somewhat of an expert. It has come to my attention that some people need a reminder of proper email etiquette! Please remember, there is a person on the other end of this email and they aren’t thrilled by your attitude, endless emoticons or lack of respect.

First off, NO chain letters! Get serious, spamming all of your friends with this garbage will not bring you money, luck or anything else (except pissed off receivers). I am also not interested in emails that are 5 different colors. It hurts my eyes and looks like a 3 yr. old prepared it. Keep the font simple, the appropriate size and black. Know the difference between reply and reply all. We don’t all need to know your personal information (unless it’s real juicy). Your signature should be brief and to the point, not a bibliography. When you are sending out an email to a list of people, bcc the recipients so the whole world doesn’t have my email (oh wait, they already do). And finally, please give me the option to unsubscribe from your list (sometimes, I just can’t take it anymore). If you follow these simple tips, you might not drive people crazy. Ok you will, but in a different area.
